If one were to ask a film critic what they judge to be the greatest movie ever made, “The Rocky Fright Characterize Point To” would most likely not be a current retort. Things only regain weirder when you throw in a houseful of servants with quirks of their occupy, such as hunchbacked butler, a voyeuristic maid, and a tap dancing groupie. Before I watched this film, I read the reviews of the press and most of them weren’t enormous. I am unfortunately one of those guys who will assign himself off watching it because of those dreadful reviews. I’m gutted I did as this film was simply the personification of brilliance from originate to do. It’s slick, stylish and downright amusing excellence. Even for a film like this, the special enact and general action would achieve even James Bond to shame. It’s challenging, quite emotional at times, icy at others and unbiased downright droll at the times that are left.

Steve Carell plays Maxwell Shimmering, a secret agent who desperately wants to come by on the field. Carell is the usual humorous guy we have advance to know and admire, his ridiculous expressions and perfected funny timing are all exhibit. Johnson doesn’t select his character too seriously, which is something he always manages to shine in playing but manages to pull out the acting stops when he has to enter into the action man role.

An awesome movie all round and is definitely worth it unbiased for the sky diving scene and the laser room.

This film is the first I’d seen in YEARS where I actually laughed often during the entire film! Steve Carell is a fitting Maxwell Incandescent, bringing the personality and humor the character requires. (I’d been a fan of the outmoded tv series, watching re-runs on Prick at Nite.) He’s really the only man for the job that I could even record in the role. And Anne Hathaway steals the explain as the sparkling Agent 99. Anne and Steve compliment each other in every scene with hilarious, witty dialogue and facial expressions that only they can do. The Rock was also awesome as Agent 23. And Alan Arkin is surprisingly side-splitting as the Chief! I laughed at everything he did/said! Glimpse THIS FILM.

The advert itself for the Disney Channel tempted me to gaze it and the wait actually paid off! The beginning was quite baffling at first but I soon caught up with the storyline. The residence is cute in some points and nerve testing in a few but of course there’s a bit of that special Disney touch of wander jerking moments. The special effects and sets are wonderful and gorgeous. I am in care for with the Merlin-ish touch they have managed to add in and it fits pretty!

Tia and Tamera Mowry really filled up the gaps for their fans who miss them while they are away from the tv point to business and I’m tickled they are included in this one. I really devour watching this movie and I hope other people would invent be willing to add this into their DVD listing as I would.

I’ve always admired these twins. Tia & Tamera Mowry. They are two classy ladies. I bought this movie for my daughter after seeing it on Disney channel. She is only 6 years aged. At first I view it was a bit too scary at first. She didn’t have a plight with it. She says that it’s her all time popular movie.

This is the final entry in the Christopher Lee/ Fu Manchu series of films, produced by Harry Alan Towers. This is a fantastic DVD from the ravishing folks at Blue Underground with some really nice extras, too poor the film isn’t as suitable!

Chris Lee is large as the devil doctor but the myth, such as it is, is incredibly wearisome. Fu, of course, wants to rule the world and to this extinguish he plots to turn all the world’s water to ice. Okay. It is up to the heroic Nayland Smith (Richard Greene) of Scotland Yard to set aside the day with the succor of his Watson-like sidekick Dr. Petrie (Howard Marion Crawford) .

The print of the film looks grand and the sound is crystal distinct. The film is in anamorphic widescreen and a joy to notice at.

It has always been a source of disappointment to me that these films weren’t better than they are. Considerable of the fault must be laid squarely on the producer, Mr. Towers, who wrote all the screenplays under the name of Peter Welbeck. Why he wrote his have stories instead of basing the movies on Sax Rohmer’s recent novels is a mystery to me. Many of the current novels are quite righteous with intriguing plots and characters. Even the character of Fu Manchu is more complex in the books. For instance, in “PRESIDENT FU MANCHU”, Fu (remember he is a doctor), performs an operation on a young boy to place his life. You never gawk Lee doing anything like that in these films (or Karloff in “Shroud OF FU MANCHU”, or any of the other hide Fu’s) . Also, although Fu wants to rule the world in the books, he longs for a unruffled world without war, disease, or poverty. In the 3rd Lee/ Fu film, “VENGEANCE OF FU MANCHU”, one character says, “We know of your desire to rule the world, a world of crime”. Rule a world of crime? That isn’t what Fu wants. Didn’t Mr. Towers ever read even one of the novels? What a pity! With Lee as Fu and the fantastic Tsai Chin as his daughter, this could have been a substantial series. As it is, this is a very mediocre series of films with only Lee and Chin to originate them mildly fascinating.

Having said that, this is sort of a fun film to gaze and an improvement over the previous entry, “BLOOD OF FU MANCHU” (also available from Blue Underground) . You even accumulate to gaze director Jess Franco in a miniature role as a police inspector.

The DVD extras are stout. A 13 tiny feature with commments from Lee and Chin, director Jess Franco and Mr. Towers. I must address one thing Mr. Towers says about Franco. He blames Franco for the bad quality of these last 2 films saying he “killed off Fu Manchu”. I judge that is an unfair statement. Franco isn’t the greatest director in the world but the abominable quality of these films isn’t his fault alone. Mr. Towers must remove some of the blame for his really lame screenplays. Even Alfred Hitchcock or Stanley Kubrick at the height of their creativity couldn’t have breathed life into Mr. Towers lame scripts!

Also included are trailers, poster and photo galleries, some astonishing liner notes by “VIDEO WATCHDOGS” editor, Tim Lucas, info on Sax Rohmer and a bibliography of Fu novels (read some, they are wonderful), and bios of Lee and Franco.

Overall, a nice disc for Lee and/or Franco fans, or anyone who loves that mysterious oriental super-genius, Fu Manchu. -George Bauch

If you really miss the songs from the MST3K crew, then there’s respectable news!! Kevin Murphy does the title song before the movie and it’s Hilarious!! Then there’s the movie, a typical outerspace tidbit from the 50’s. The laughable region is about two hoods who procure rocketed to the moon along with scientists (the lone female on the spaceship wears Pearls and earrings with her outerspace jumpsuit!) . They land on a planet with female-only aliens who fair happen to be lovely women in skimpy outfits and high heels. The head honcho is called “The Lido,” for some unknown reason and her crown looks more like a chandelier on her head. The best actors are the tacky giant puppet spider and rock creatures who disappear faster than the tiresome humans who are trying to run them. Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett do a reasonably favorable job. The movie and commentary are tame so it’s family-friendly.

The RiffTrax soundtrack seemed to near across remarkable quieter than the movie’s recent sound making it difficult to follow what Mike, Kevin and Bill said. I was constantly having to tell gags for my aunt who honest couldn’t hear what the Riffers were saying most of the time.

Just wanted to leave a worthy review for those that are trying to choose whether they should bewitch the recent 15th edition if they already occupy the 10th. Well, the transfer is noteworthy grand better than the abysmal one that was assign on the 10th. The 10th anniversary edition transfer was a very wearisome one at best, a step down from the bare bones dvd that was first released by Live when they were mild around. The blacks in the Dogs’ suits were more dismal grey and the overall discover was aged. I was never certain if this was a creative choice or that it was simply screwed up. There was plenty of online debate when the disc came out as to the worth of it. This fresh transfer remedies all of that, the represent is anamorphic, with rich colors, making the film see exactly like what I saw when I mature to notice it in the 90s. The 10th also, for some inexplicable reason, dropped a line of Mr. White’s dialogue (“I judge he’s unbiased passed out”) but it is thankfully restored here. So if you want the most solid transfer of Reservoir Dogs ever on DVD, this is your purchase.

The extras, unfortunately, pale in comparison to the 10th, and this is why you’ll probably want to maintain the 10th around if you’re a filmmaking fan. The 10th edition has a documentary interviewing most of the key players in the film as well as some priceless footage from Tarantino’s filmmaking lab workshops at Sundance where he (poorly) played Mr. White(!) These are all missing on the original 15th disc, but the fresh 15th disc carries over “Reservoir Dolls,” the torture scene played out by Reservoir Dogs action figures. The 15th also has retrospective commentaries by some of the cast and crew, 2 movie critics, and a film historian all on separate tracks while watching the movie. Rather absorbing too. There are a couple of retrospective documentaries discussing the film’s impact on the cinema world. There are also deleted scenes carried over from the 10th, but other than that, mostly fodder to acquire you angry about Reservoir Dogs, including a short featurette about the unique video game.

So, I yelp I would recommend this double dip if you’re a hard-core fan of the film, especially with the friendly transfer. You can earn it at Circuit City for $12.99 this week which is an sterling tag for what you gain, but I would absorb on to the 10th edition for the filmmaking extras which were not carried over. Oh, and if you’re into packaging, this is the best packaging I’ve ever seen. This movie is not for those with outmoded stomachs. Although the psychological element of alarm is great stronger than anything you actually look in this film, there are a couple of gory scenes that will scar your memory forever once you peek them… the type of deliberate, up end & personal cruelty to another human being that surpasses the desensitizing we’ve been through by watching other violent scenes on tv and movies. The isolation of the movie taking set almost entirely in one room makes even the most tame scenes un-nerving and uncomfortably intense.

Tim Roth’s performance is definitely the most piercing. Michael Madsen, Harvey Keitel, Chris Penn and the rest of the ensemble cast are also riveting.

You will never listen to the song “Stuck in the Middle With You” by Stealers Wheel the same procedure again. A song I once really liked serene gives me the willies each time I hear it.

The waste result is a consuming prove, and the DVD includes enough extras to satisfy hardcore fans (The Recede bonus tracks has one of the greatest audience responses in rock history) . Don’t miss the reprise of “Hurry and a Pull. . .” as well as the elusive “Jack the Ripper!”

This DVD is absolutely incredible. If you’re a hard-core Morrissey fan, or even fair looking to maybe fetch into some of his music…this is definitely the thing for you.

Absolutely magical. Incredible. All the songs are so well executed. The band is glowing. Ample snaps to Boz, Mikey, and Deano! Highlights would be “I Know It’s Gonna Happen”, “Rubber Ring”, “The World Is Chubby of Crashing Bores”, “Let Me Kiss You” and the utterly unbelieveable “There Is A Light That Never Goes Out”. Seriously, the DVD is worth the stamp honest for that song.

This footage contains only 5 songs but they honestly bowl you over. With this footage you really fetch the feeling that you’re in there with the crowd…and you feel the euphoria and excitement. I consider it was an inspired touch to have a microphone of sorts over the crowd because it really adds to the experience. The 5 songs chosen are absolutely perfect. Really colorful direction with this one!

At one point in the BBC production of Casanova, the Italian ladies’ man jokes with his latest paramour that his surname translates as “lucky b*stard.” The real-life Giacomo Casanova claimed to have slept with 122 women and four men. Such a smart life has sparked any number of dramatizations, including this three-part miniseries from the BBC (shown in the US courtesy of Masterpiece Theater) .

The series opens with the elderly Casanova (Peter O’Toole), now librarian to a nobleman, writing his memoirs. An inquisitive serving girl, Edith (Rose Byrne) takes an interest in the dilapidated man, and he begins telling her about his adventures. The record shifts support and forth between the show and the past; in brief vignettes, viewers gawk young Giacomo’s childhood and adolescence, his education and sexual awakening. Finally, “Jack” reaches young adulthood; David Tennant takes over the lead, and the fun really begins.

The narrative is glorious mighty a dramatic fabrication, although some details are fair (e.g., Casanova’s valiant prison elope), and remarkable of it comes off like an eighteenth century “Acquire Me if You Can.” Casanova has no money or state or region, so he gets by with a combination of intelligence, wit, trickery, and of course, sex appeal. Before long, he’s hobnobbing with the Venetian upper-crust and later traversing half of Europe, bedding one woman after another. The series is, for the most fragment, exceedingly well-done. Its cornerstone is a tight, focused script (by Russell T Davies), crackling with witty dialogue. It also helps that the characters all feel very rooted in the culture and values of their times, and the script doesn’t timorous away from brutal realities, including untimely death, barbaric executions, the rigid social structures imposed by money and position, and the cramped options available to women.

Visually, Casanova is a sumptuous treat, with enough state work to sustain it from feeling set-bound. The interiors are shapely, and the costumes are fairly eye-popping, with nice shifts in color schemes as the tale switches from one site to the next. Despite the quality and the lavish attention to detail, however, the production peaceful looks cheap by American standards–colorful and over-the-top, but spurious. Oddly, this amateur-theatrical quality is fraction of the series’ charm, and it even provides some self-deprecating humor (e.g., an enthralling galleon bobbing across an venerable diagram indicates a sea voyage) . The gather is spotty: gracious in some places, wincingly synth-pop in others.

The production’s other big strength is the performances of the cast. O’Toole hits all the proper notes as the older Casanova, looking succor on his life with a mixture of nostalgia, pride, afflict, and regret. Remarkably, the seventy-something actor conveys a sincere sense of sex appeal, and his chemistry with the remarkable younger Byrne is gracious. But the film belongs to Tennant, who gets the bigger chunk of cloak time and brings exactly the just combination of cheeky confidence and lovelorn vulnerability to the younger Jack. The character’s over-the-top behavior would be wicked in lesser hands, but Tennant’s nicely controlled performance keeps the viewers’ sympathy with Casanova at all times. Tennant also does ample work “aging” the character over the course of twenty years, as time, exhaustion, and disappointment all purchase their toll. His funny timing is wonderful–a couple of scenes are screamingly droll (Casanova goes to confession, literally giving the priest a coronary), and Tennant’s delivery of lines like, “I’m the Italian with the wh*re!” are spot-on perfect.

O’Toole and Tennant are supported by a vast and mostly able extended cast. Particularly impressive is Shaun Parkes as Casanova’s sidekick/ manservant Rocco: the two fraction some hilarious banter and have grand chemistry together. Also strong is Nina Sosanya as Casanova’s second major esteem interest, a singer named Bellino: she’s a trusty presence, despite relatively miniature cover time. Byrne does edifying work as the intriguing and compassionate Edith. Perhaps the biggest surprise is Rupert Penry-Jones as Casanova’s rival Grimani: the character starts off as a pompous, rich boor, but layers are revealed as the sage unfolds, building up to an emotionally mighty scene that Penry-Jones plays to aching perfection. Probably the weakest link in the cast is Laura Fraser as Henriette–she doesn’t order distinguished depth to the care for of Casanova’s life, making it hard to swallow that he’d go to such lengths for her. Given the scores of women literally throwing themselves at him, Henriette really needed to be a compelling presence, and she’s not all that different from his other paramours. It doesn’t succor that Fraser’s repertoire consists of a single facial expression, which starts off charming but starts to grate very snappily. She’s not terrible–she has a wonderfully comical scene where Henriette and Jack communicate by price language across a crowded ballroom–but in such an outstanding cast, she gets lost.

Overall, Casanova is a fun, shimmering romp, with powerful to recommend it. It’s to the series’ credit that the nearly three-hour running time goes by very rapid. I strongly recommend the DVD release over the edited version PBS is showing. Yes, the sex is fairly raunchy and leaves minute to the imagination, but it also provides worthy of the story’s humor, and one crucial exchange between Grimani and Casanova feels, well, neutered with so many dirty words nick out. The production has its campy moments, and some may accumulate it too over-the-top, but underneath the trappings is a fairly classic admire memoir with a lot of heart.

Casanova is one of the funniest offerings on Masterpiece Theater in years. A dramatization of the life of the notorious rogue Giacomo Casanova, it is state in Europe during the eighteenth century at the height of the Enlightenment. I have no understanding how accurately this film renders Casanova’s right life. I do know that the script is witty and the actors quick-witted (I particularly enjoyed Casanova’s many asides) . I also loved the inequity between Casanova’s riotous early years and his black retirement as a librarian, telling his account to a young woman who is appalled by his excesses, attracted by his charm, and finally becomes his last friend and ally. I enjoyed the disconnect between Casanova’s constant womanizing and his unfulfilled fancy for Bellino and especially Henriette, who becomes a sort of guardian angel, pulling him out of some of his worst predicaments without his having a clue. I also enjoyed the “unique” music scores and dancing, which enhance rather than distract from the narrative, especially the “ball” at the French court, which is hysterical!

If you are only familiar with this production as it was shown on Masterpiece Theater, be forewarned that this is the unusual uncut British offering, with plenty of sexual acrobatics (and some killingly droll scenes poking fun at England and the English! I can’t imagine why the Masterpiece Theater people lop those parts out!)
